What title would you give this photograph?
You may have noticed a lag in my blogging. We just returned from our spring break trip to see my dad in Arizona — a trip that totaled more than 2,100 miles in the car. It was long, it was exhausting, the scenery was beautiful and I am still getting photos uploaded unto the computer and organized.
It reminds me a little bit of the trip I took with the boys in the summer of 2009. While I didn’t put those kind of miles on a car, we did fly from Virginia to Seattle, spending a great deal of time with family and squeezing in time with friends, too. SuperDad stayed back east to work but everyone else on my side of the family was there. We celebrated my mother’s 70th birthday and the 10 cousins had fun together.
With the exception of MusicMan (in sunglasses) and Encyclopedia Blue (far right), everyone has grown at least 6 inches taller since this photograph was taken.
This picture hangs in my hallway, a remembrance from that fun time on a rocky beach in the middle of a Seattle-area heat wave.
For 46 years, people repeatedly told me I look like my mother.
Last year, my husband snapped this picture of me with my father. Guess who I think I really look like?
This picture isn’t much of a time warp — it was taken just one year ago.
I’m on the road now and will be there tomorrow for our annual visit.
As is right and proper, family takes priority in life. The “unread” list in my Reader was already in triple digits before I left town. Those who have packed a family up for vacation know how much work goes into pre-trip preparation… and the farther down the road I go, the behinder I become.
While I don’t quite qualify as a Luddite, limited WiFi access and a “dumb phone” means I am really far behind on checking in with each of you.
I am grateful for your comments here, because they show up in my e-mail and I will get to read them the next time I have WiFi for my laptop and the time to access it. Keeping connected to friends is right up there in my priorities next to keeping connected with family. ♥
