When my oldest son was born and joined the extended family, he was the first grandchild on my side of the extended family but the fifth grandchild — and fourth grandson — on my husband’s side of the family.
He was also the first grandchild who would carry on the family name.
That baby in the picture above is currently a senior in college, earning a degree in Chemical Engineering. He has 3 younger brothers to help “carry on the family name.” (When I was 10 months pregnant with the last one, my sweet MIL suggested that we could stop now!! — which made me briefly consider having a fifth child. Very briefly. Because that 4th baby boy weighed nine-and-a-half pounds!)

I swear, that could be your oldest son in that photo –he looks a lot like his father 🙂 Also? I’m pretty sure we have that exact same blanket.
Isn’t that a cool thing? All those people a legacy together.
wow, that is just amazing!!!
Very sweet pictures, Karen.
Awwww, I love the generations picture.
Oh, aren’t those photos sweet?!
The men in your family have a strong resemblance, indeed! Love the MIL comment 🙂
